G'day
I have a PC that has 2 HD's & I want to replace them with a 15G HD.I would like to find out the best way to transfer the files.
Do I use the DOS process or thru Win ME explorer ??
Thanks

Whats files? Data? Install the OS on new drive then slave the old drive to pull the data within windows.

I prefer an XCopy script. That way, you can set the switches to do whatever you want. I'm assuming you don't want to copy the entire contents.
You could write the script to just copy the folders that you want to move, and it'll be faster than a drag and drop.

If you want to move the operating system which is presumably on the C drive, take out the D drive and put in the new one, with the jumpers set to whatever you had the D drive set as, presumably primary slave. Clone the C drive to the new drive using Ghost or a Drive Copy program to make sure all hidden files are copied.
Move the new drive to being the C drive, ensuring that the jumpers are set correctly for primary master and make sure that the operating system and programs are working correctly and that any data files you had on the old C drive have been correctly copied.
Then put in the old D drive and use Windows Explorer to copy the files to the new drive.

hello if you use norton ghost like trev says you will not have to partion or format as ghost will do this as it clones the drive.
but if its a real large drive you may want to partion and format it first.just so you can put the info from your two drives on two difreant partions just some more info and options.
have a nice day

Hi Donald,Jennifer,Trev & Wawadave
Thanks for the replies to my problem.
I should have given you a bit more info re HD's 1. 2G 2. 8G .......I have formated & partitioned the 15G HD so it is ready to transfer all the contents of the HD's.
Thanks again for help
Regards Bob
