Just finished for the day typing a document in word 2000. I then clicked file and then save and this box came up.
Microsoft Word
! Word cannot complete
the save due to a file permission error. (C:\MY Documents\IMPORTANT.doc)
Ive never had this error message before. I just want to make sure I do this correctly. Most of this word 2000 document is backed up on my zip drive. I thank you

Follow up on my original post. As it turns out I had to shutdown my PC for the day. I tried to save the word 2000 document. Do not know what caused this but I lost about an hours worth of todays typing. Could have been worse, this document is 163 pages long so far. Any ideas of what caused this and what i could do in the future if this ever happens again. tks to you all.

hello i would back up the rest of the document onto cd-rw it could be back ground programs causeing this. like spy ware or virus to clean out spyware d/l spybot search and destroy, update it run it. try online scan at housecall or panda antivirus. and try the things in these links. http://www.burzurq.com/forum/trevtweak.html how 2 run m.e well ver.4 from jack g http://www.computing.net/windowsme/wwwboard/forum/34115.html these cover the most comon things that cause unknown errors and there for will most likely fix your problem or narrow it down to where it can be found.
