Does anyone know of a way to get the fade transition effect and mouse shadow from Windows 2000 in WinMe?

Are there any replacements for Explorer, then? I mean, the scrolling effect was added to Windows 95 with Explorer 4. So, I thought that stuff like this could be added by simply upgrading Explorer. Are there any 3rd-party replacements that you know of?

btw, Thanks for your reply!

Windows 98 and ME both have the programming hooks in the GUI code to support alpha transparency, ie fades and shadows, *but* they are not implemented. Another case of Microsoft arrogance?

At any rate, the company that makes WindowBlinds, which is similiar to Kaladeiscope for the Mac, makes a program called 'WindowFX' which enables these goodies under both 98 and ME. I've tested them both and had no problems, other than the annoying shareware nags.
