factory restore/clean install

I am trying to restore my hard drive to the original factory settings. I have tried ZZTOP and it won't work, so I want to format my hard drive and perform a clean install.
when I type FORMAT C: /U, it says Bad Command or File Name.

hello with m.e boot disk its just a:format c: dont need the switches in m.e dos for format

Dunno what zztop is unless you asked the musicians to format it for you.
Do you have a recovery disk? What kind of PC? You may not need to format with a boot disk.

Just remember to back up any files you might want to hang onto. For what reason do you want to format the HD? What's the computer up to? You need the recovery disks that came with the computer. It's easy to do, but time consuming.
