F: Backup of C: Drive

When my son was having problems with his pc he tried to fix it using the recovery CD. In doing so, it made a "backup of C: Drive: on his pc and called it the "F:" drive. This nearly filled up his hard drive and now he is having performance problems due to the disk being so full. However, we don't know how to get rid of this drive copy. I can't even delete individual folders on the drive. Is there a way to do this without totally reformatting the hard drive?

from the way you explained it, the cd's have made a new partition called f: with ME on it. go to my computer (or use your own) right click on the f:drive and when the panel opens in the list you will see format, click on that. the format box will open, click on f: again and highlight it and do a full format of the f: drive. when it's empty he can store stuff on that drive as well as c: you will get a warning about formating but just click yes and it will proceed.

It didn't work. It give me a message saying that the drive either doesn't allow for formatting or it is in use by another utility. I went into task manager and ended everything but explorer and it still won't' let me do it.
