Hi,
I'm attaching a external CDRW drive to my laptop through PCMCIA (CardBus).
I followed all the instructions, installed the PCMCIA drivers, restarted, and the Drive was recognised in 'My Computer' and could read fine.
Then, i installed the appropriate software provided, and now the drive is not reconised and no longer appears in my computer.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled, but still the same. All the connections seem fine. It's a SONY CRX75A by the way
Oh, also is there any special times to turn the drive power on or off? Ie should it be on when booting? on when shutting down? (Ive tried all by the way)
Cheers

hello
have you looked in the device manager for yellow ? red x,s?
about all i can figure to try is to unplug cd-rw and remove the card if its removeable (computer off)
than restart computer and remove all soft ware for cd-rw and make sure its not showing in the divce manager if it is remove it.
shut computer off and reinstall hard ware. restart, goto add new hard ware and try again.
if cd-rw does not power up with computer you should start it ahead of computer for computer to reconize it on start up.
as to weather to shut it off befor or after shuting computer. try shuting it off after computer shut off.
have a nice day

Cheers for your reply, but it was actually alot simpler! I rang the tech helpline as it was free and it just needs a CD in it, co its not totally plug and play. works fine now.
Cheers anyway wawadave
