explorer.exe (not responding)

I shut down IE6, my desktop appears. I try to click on anything on my desktop, like My Documents, My Computer, another website, or anything else, nothing happens. System just sits there and will not open. If you go to the CLOSE PROGRAM screen by doing an ALT-CNTRL-DEL, it says Explorer (not responding). This seems to mostly happen when on a website that uses a lot of java script writing, like looking up auto dealer sites where photos are displayed and the such. I am also using McAfee Virus protection and have all the latest updates and also use the most current Zone Alarm Firewall (free version). I have a hunch that maybe either one of these programs may be causing the problem. There have been a few tvdebug.log errors that have caused problems lately also. Any comments or help appreciated.

ta21, SWAG, may be way off base, Windows ME, as released had a problem releasing memory after using it. Have you addressed that issue? If not, STRONGLY recommend you read/apply 'Trev's Tweaks ...' @: http://www.burzurq.com/forum/trevtweak.html REALLY helped me make mine a sweetheart! HTH. Ed in Texas.

That is exactly what it seems like. Memory not working right. Sometimes even the mouse acts crazy then it works okay after a few seconds. Will check out trevs website. Been there before for help. Thanks.
