Can anyone help me with this error message that I continue to receive upon shutting down my computer? "Explorer has created an error in . Explorer will now close. If the problem continues, try restarting your computer." I've contacted Dell support several times without any assistance. All I need to know is how to correct this error once and for all. My operating system is Windows ME. Thanks.

whel try reinstal windows on the 1 you have, that should fix all the problem, but b4 just backup all important files, just icase thay would get erase, but thay shuldnt!
c ya!

If you boot into safe mode, then try a shut down, do you get the same error?
To boot into safe mode:
Reboot.
After the POST(memory check and *beep*) start tapping on the F8 key.
From the menu choose #3 safe mode.Once there, try to shut down.
If the error does not occur, it is most likely something running the background that has hooked itself onte Explorer that is causing your issue. You can used "clean boot troubleshooting" to help you figure out what is causing your problem.
How to Perform a Clean Boot in Windows Millennium Edition (Q267288)
If you attempt a shutdown from safe mode and the same error occurs, it could be that Explorer is broken. Or it could be that you have a virus. Scan for a virus and try a repair of Internet Explorer as Explorer and Internet Explorer are basically the same program.
To repair internet explorer:
Go to start>>settings>>control panel>>add/remove programs
Highlight whichever version of Internet Explorer you have at this time in the list.
Click add/remove.
A box will come up asking you what you would like to do.
Choose repair. If you choose to repair, do it in safe mode to ensure that nothing is running that could interfere with with the repair.
