When trying to download, "Exit all windows programs", what does that mean?
If I exit all, I have no computer. I AM missing something! What is windows and what is, not? Is it just temporary internet files?

Your download is probably a self installing one because the notice to close all programs is a typical one when you start a program setup. It is a safety measure that you close the programs working in the background to avoid the risk of loosing data if anything would go wrong like computer freezing. This applies to word processor and other programs that you run at the same time you may be on the web.Multitasking in this situation is not recommended.Generally speaking if your computer is in top shape, nothing will happen if you do nothing. You should reboot after a setup is completed to take advantage of the new updated registry.Good luck.

Right click the icons by the clock...close or exit or disable. Those are the programs running in the background that normally is recomended to be closed (stopped). Especially antivirus software since most av scanners take alot of memory while scanning which is what it will be doing while the program is installing. Assuming you scanned the program for virus before installing it...Just remember to turn av back on when done.
Basically the programmer who wrote the program tells you that to make the install go as easy as possible...so windows can concentrate on just installing the program without trying to run a pile of stuff at once.

Good luck
