Exception ESock Error

When booting I get "Mmx.exe caused an error in file " then "Exception ESock Error in module MMx.exe". This happened after loading AOL. Any ideas? I have reloaded Internet Explorer and Windows Me.

Well your issue is not an easy one, actually it is rather complex but i'll try to keep it simple: Some modems like ACS Modems use mmx.exe but most don't. It is a weird driver..like an emulator driver type of thing and your problem might have happenned while installing the AOL software cause it overwrote some files so I can suggest a few things : 1- reinstall mmx.exe if you have that kind of modem, by getting it here---> http://ftp.clearconnect.net/acs/mmx.exe
The Esock error seems to be a winsock issue, so try the reinstall of mmx first then if no result, 2- reinstall dial up networkingfrom your winME CD, cause i know winsock can get corrupt for many reasons, too long to list here ( I know it happenned to me many times in the past).
