I'm trying to re-install Windows ME from the original OEM Disks on my Dell. Its almost done installing when I get "An exception 0E has occurred at 0028:C006115 in VxD VNETBIOS(01) + 00000B8D. This was called from 0028:C023F58B in VxD VMM(0C) + 0000058B. It may be possible to continue normally." If I continue the install several modules come up as corrupted and the whole thing kind of falls apart. Anyone know whats causing this. This PC came with ME 8 months ago. It ran very well.

..."an exception error................."

Don't give up yet Martin, not if it doesn't explicitly say "fatal exception error..

Try this first..

Geesh it's nice to see that im not the only person to have these types of problems :]

Anyways, my computers has gone to **** and its VERY annoying to try and get it back up. I'm getting the 'blue screen of death' almost every min it seems like. VMM and VxD and Vcache they all say. Oh i've tried to reinstall ME (several times) low-level reformatting (still no help) and im getting very pissed at whoever made winME. Oh well.

unless you guys can help me get VxDMon.vxd or provide a simple solution to this problem, itll be back to 98SE for me.

Cause:
This is caused during a fresh OS reinstall by a Turtle Beach Montego sound card.

Rationalle:
The hardware drivers are not installed for this card yet.

Procedure:
Continue past this error (Non-fatal).

Results:
Install the Turtle Beach drivers after the completion of the Windows ME install.
Problem solved...

When reinstalling, try removing the Turtle Beach Sound card physically. It messes around with the autodetect and gives the error. After you install the OS, install the card and immediately install the drivers. It should stop afterwards.
