Comment:
Hi,
Can anybody help me, I have a Notebook with a ESS1878 soundcard. I do have sounds with my modem, but no sounds with Windows Sound Schemes or Audio Playbacks.
go into the device manager by right clicking 'my computer' and going to properties. under 'sound, video, and game controllers' is your audio device listed? does it have an exclamation point, x, or question mark on it?
Hi, Thanks for your reply. The problem is that Windows ME picks my audio device up correctly and shows that there are no problems with it,but when I go to Sound and Multimedia, there it tells me that there is no preferred device.
open up media player 7 or whatever your prefered device is... and set it to be your default player...
for media player: open media player and look at the top by file, edit, etc... choose tools go to options go to the formats tab click select all
now media player is your preferred device.
there are other ways to do this for different players, but it is basically the same... just look for something called options and tell it what kinds of formats you want it to play.
