ok, i recently got highspeed internet and lately, the computer has slowed down and there are all kinds of things poping up that shouldn't. To being, when i press ctrl, alt, del, there are many programs running that i have no idea what they are. They never were there before. When i got to start, run, msconfig, startup... it shows programs that i never installed but they are there. The following are there but i don't know what they do, "hxdl.exe" "helpexp.exe" "emsw.exe" "BELT" "Browsemeet" "Autoupdater"... there are more to. When i go to my C drive and delete them manually they go to the recycle bin and i deleted them out of there and when i restart my computer they come back somehow. Anyone know what any of these programs are? How to rid of them? if i can't find anything i'll resort to formating, reinstalling, starting fresh. any suggestions?

In addition to guarding your computer from virus attack, you have to watch out for browser hijacks and other exploits.

Some free programs to help deal with the onslaught are:

Ad-Aware

Spybot S&D

HiJackThis!

.. for starters. The Security & Virus forum here @computing.net can better address these issues and offer further suggestions.

paka, the fixes offered will do the job, I suspect that you have the nasties imbeded in your 'Restore'. Disable that TEMPORARILY, scan/remove, re-enable and they should go away for good.
