Comment: I am having problems with my computer, everytime I boot the computer goes directly to Safe Mode. I tried to run the Restore system option but I get the message that I do not have enough space in my hard drive. I went delete files and I am still getting the same message. I decide to format my C: drive. I have the bootdisk and I tried to format C starts running but then stops and I get an error message saying Insufficient memory. I used the Format C: command. Can anybody let me know what to do. Thanks

Reply: It sounds like something has usurped your disk space. Does BIOS report the disk size correctly? How about running FDisk and re-establishing your partition? If there is any software on the hard drive interfering with the Format command, this will clear it out.

Reply: Thanks for the response. How do I restablish my partition with Fdisk, which option do I need to choose from the Fdisk menu?. When I type the the format C: command they ask me if I want to format C: then starts checking for bad clustores and stops at 23%.

Reply: Try running SCANDISK C: from the boot disk and see if it detects/fixes problems. It sounds like the drive has gone bad. Go to the disk drive makers web site and locate their disk analysis tool. Usually builds a test diskette. Boot and run their program. Sometimes (depending on vendor) their software can fix such problems or low level format it to clear hard errors. I know that some IBM drives have this problem and can be fixed. But you loose all information on the disk drive when you low level format it with the vendors analysis software.

Reply: Yep. And i wouldn't trust the drive after this. If it's not new (>1Year) replace it if the warranty is past or RMA it back.
