WHEN I TRY TO OPEN ANY EXE FILE IN WINDOWS A ERROE MESSAGE POPS UP AND SAY1. YOU MAY HAVE TYPED THE NAME INCORRECTLY IN THE RUN DIALOG
2. ANOTHER OPEN PROGRAM CANNOT FIND A SYSTEM FILE

I agree with Miro, sounds like sircam or similar virus. If you have Norton 2001 you can configure a Norton POP server to scan your email b4 it reaches your computer.I know for a fact that at least 2 emails were sent to me from an infected source and Norton caught these b4 getting to my outlook express.Visit symantec's web site for a removal tool.Works well.

i received on this email several thousand emails infected with sircam...
i caught them all myself without any AV program because i see the extentions of the attached files...i forwarded some of them to test the effectivnes of AV programs to my work email adres and to hotmail thats using mcafee... my work email server caught it right away (but we have several full time people that take care of the viruses) and hotmail failed to catch it for a bout a week...
just set your preferences in the windows explorer to show extention of known file types and that way you will stop microsoft from helping to spread viruses

Miro,I would hate to see the size of your address book. That or alot of people like to send you mail.Im lucky if I get junk mail once in awhile.

the bulk of it was just from one email address that i dont even know... i forwarded the infected email to his/her ISP and then it eventually stopped
i try to use outlook as little as possible and i do not keep address book... i copy and paste adresses from a text file
Regards

I fixed one of the pc's at work for the geeks that did the same thing. It was a virus and oddly enough a version of the sub7 trojan.I agree with the scan advice

No, it was just the people on this list who disagreed with him :-)

i thought that it might be people that disagree with me...lol....but with the virus the quality is important... not the quantity of it... but i dont run any AV... so i am safe
