Sorry, I made a typo on my email address on message number 26442. Here's the question again. Problem is specific to only one Word 97 742 KB file. There is no problem with any of the other Word 97 files. Error messages are: "Winword has caused an error in WINDOWS.exe. Windows will now close. If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer." (Restarting doesn't work.) OR "Filename.doc is being used by xxxxxxxxx. Do you want to make a copy?" (I clicked "Yes" and got the previous error message again.) I have tried “System Restore,” “Defrag” and “Scandisk.” I have a 766MHZ Intel Celeron CPU, 20.1 gig hard drive, Word for Windows 97, Norton Anti-Virus Protection, Zone Alarm, Ad-aware and WindowsME operating system. Need help.

the file might be corrupted. have you tried norton disk doctor? Also check the properties for that file?
