Thanks, I already tired those ways with no success. If I decide to reinstall windows on top of itself would I need the original startup disk? Or is it possible with a boot up disk?

yea I tired replacing cmdninst.exe but I don’t know exactly what I should be entering. It would show that the path I typed in was null or something like that.

SavesTheDay,

Ok, first we will have to find out, if the "win_16.cab", is on the HDD. Well, that's if you are going to extract one from there. To see if it's there, type these, and press Enter after each. As you've indicated, you know how to start the computer and all.

c:

attrib*/s*win_16.cab

Don't, type the * It's just there, to show you where to leave a space.

It will display the address of the "win_16.cab", if it's found. That's what you would enter, for were to extract from.

This;

c:\windows\system

is where it goes. You probably knew that one.

Now, if it's not on the HDD. You can extract one from the CD. For the address, put the letter of your drive, and then this;

:\win9x

Well, that's if it's a MS disk. If it's something else, you would have to put the address of where the win_16.cab is located on the CD.

Hope that help, and Good Luck.
S.T.A.R.
