PC100 mobo wi CMI 8330 soundblaster chip, WinMe OS, Celeron 300 with 256 meg ram. Sometimes IE, msgsrv, outlook, etc cause an error in CM8330.drv, program running closes down. IE sometimes even causes windows to shut down completely. 6X reformat and reinstall (not backup) no help, recurring problem even with only essential programs.

Sounds like a sound driver problem. Have you updated your drivers?

Go to control panel -multimedia and check for sound card set to what you have? hehe
