error - boot sector file - help me!!!!!!

i tried to install windows 2000 as a dual partition with Me. It cancelled the setup while it was doing it though.
But when i start my computer i get the option to choose with operating system i want to use. Why though if it cancelled during setup?
Anyway i choose Me to boot with but i get this
I/0 ERRORE accessing boot sector file multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partiotion(1)\BOOTSECT.DOS
What does this mean?
I would like to format and install windows 2000 but i need to back up some files.
How can i do this if i cant get in to my computer?
Please help me!!!!

boot on a floppy, start in dos mode and copy those files on a floppy. Next format install 2k next install Me

Try rebooting to a DOS Prompt from a floppy then type "sys c:" (sans quotes) then reboot.
