Epson Perfection 1240 vs 1640

Comment:
Is there a noticeable difference in scan quality between Epson 1240 Photo and 1640 Photo when using it for photos and old negs? Do the three buttons on the 1240 make basic functions much simpler, enough of a tradeoff for diff in scan quality? I know that is somewhat subjective. Thanks!

I have the 1240. The buttons are worthless. It is easier to start whatever app you are going to use the scan in and do it from there. Unless you are scanning at super high resolutions, I don't think you will notice any difference. At 300 DPI or even 600 DPI there won't be a noticeable difference.
The scan quality of the 1240 is excellent, much better than the UMAX it replaced.
