Its completely screwed up now!. Does anybody have or know where to get EBD for ME(Compaq Presario 5000) Also, where can you find the product key other than the disc?

What's completely screwed up? Can you describe the problem you're having? You can download a boot disk from www.bootdisk.com.

boot up computer and the black screen says please insert EBD system.ini missing

If a missing system.ini is causing the problem you can restore a previous registry which will contain that file.

Boot up with a bootdisk--a 98 bootdisk may be best. At the a:\ prompt type:

path=c:\windows;c:\windows\command

and enter. Then type:

scanreg/restore

and enter. Choose a registry to restore with a date that precedes the problem.
