Sometimes when I send pictures, the receiver just gets a blank square with a red X in it. Sometimes this is what I get from other people too. I use outlook express. Does anyone know why??

Yes, it depends on what kind of pictures you are sending ( what format) and what is used to display them. jpg is one of the most universal cant go wrong with it. Also, gif most of the time. Gif pictures can be embedded into the hmtl of the message itself whereas jpg picture is an attatchment or link. In outlook express, it doesnt tell you that if you insert a jpg picture is really is putting a link to the picture which is on your hard drive, into the html code. therefore it will look ok on your computer but no one else will see it. What you can do is upload the picture to internet storage and then change the link to the URL of the picture on the internet. Better to send it as an attatchment. there are also many other formats of pictures...

drdork, I don't understand.... I use OE5.5 and send out a 'newsletter' daily to several folks. Each contains several pictures (~6) and animations in various formats. They seem to get sent with no problem and ALL are on my computer not an online source. I feel like a bumble bee who is unaware that he can't fly!( just ask any aeronautical engineer). Explain please.

I stand corrected. I have been playing about with flash animations recently, trying to embed the link to it in my email ie sending flash animation in email. Anyways, I just sent myself 2 pictures 1 in gif format and 1 in jgp format, when I checked the source before I send it shows a link to the file, however when I check the message after it arrives the data is embedded into the message. Find out what formats work for you and your newsletter recipients and stick with them. Sorry it doesnt really answer your question tho.

I put pics into the body of my emails just by cut and paste. Pretty simple. Just open the pic w/ whatever imaging or photo editing prog. you have. Use the outline tool to encompass the pic or part of pic you wish to insert. Right click in that area, select copy. Go to your email(make sure cursor is flashing where you want), right click, select paste. Use low-quality image for a smaller size. I use Netscape, but it works the same for IE.Let us know if it works out for you.
