e-mail (.eml files) dont open

when i get an .eml attachment i cant open it .it opens to a blank page,ive tried to open it in different programs but no luck. i can send this attachment and others can open it, any advice would be appreciated

Go to Start, settings, Folder Options and click on the File Types tab. Scroll down to Outlook Express Mail Messages and be sure that the extension is EML and Opens With is MSIMN. If not, you'll have to change it to these values. If Outlook Express Mail Messages is not there for some reason, try re-installing Outlook Express. I was having the same problem and reinstalling took care of it.

I am having the same problem -- Outlook Express 6 .eml attachments open blank. I did what you (Christie) suggested in your 5/28 message but that did not work. Help!

Same here, did what was suggested, but all that happens (when I try and open the .eml file) is that Outlook Express opens in its main window - but there is no sign of the file itself opening!!

I have some *.eml files in my computer. Some of them I can delete. But others (with strange signs " ?/@').eml ", for example, I can't. What's the problem ? Is there any software that can do it ? I've been trying all the possible ways with Windows 98, but I couldn't do it, yet... Thanks !

Summary: Outlook express 5- Win ME. I cannot open large attachments ( ie 162 KB) in word pad, note pad, paint, or, with stuffit expander. States file too large to open. Sometimes can read text but not graphics...
