"Are you referring to the System Tray or the Quick Launch toolbar ?" NEITHER. It is in the TASK BAR between QuickLaunch and Systray. Maybe I have used the wrong term (shortcut ?) for those items to which open programs minimise. My problem has been solved. The shortcut was for a DOS program (WordPerfect). When I right-clicked on it, the Context Menu included Properties, in which I could edit the text of the title. Interestingly, THAT kind of Context Menu does NOT occur for Windows shortcuts ! Basty
