E drive mp3 problem

When I plug in my mp3 player I get an error message If I click on drive e in *my computer*. Message is *please insert a disc into drive e*
I have another mp3 which works fine as does my flash drive stick.

If I try to format I get a message saying memory resources to low and cannot proceed.When I check memory level its really quite high.I have read a number of times that formatting mp3 players is not a good idea. I am open to any solution though.

+ scandisc cannot check drive no disc.....

Summary: hi...i am running Windows Millenium....in my computer, the D and E drives dont show up.....and in device manager, they are not there at all!!!! i have tried lots of things, but nothin seems to help.....
