It gives me the message: "Warning: It appears that the installed version of DirectX (4.08.01.0881) is newer than this version of DxDiag (4.08.00.....). Some information reported may be inaccurate. You should use a newer version of DxDiag. What does this mean? Did I succesfully installed the latest version?
look in c:\windows\Directx.log right click it and choose open with, uncheck the always open with,checkbox then choose notepad, look for; 11/21/01 01:23:44: Target file: 'C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\dxdiag.exe' Target file is Version 4.8.0.400 Source file is Version 4.8.1.881 if not found or if the rest is the older version you may need to reinstall directx.
