Comment:

I have Windows ME,Compaq Presario 5000 series and shortly after my icons appear I get this ( dw.exe has experienced error and will now close) I close it out and after a few minutes into AOL my system locks up. i have tried not closing the box and it seems that it sometimes prevents the lockup and other times it does it anyways. i have Kazaa and sometimes it locks up as well.
In every case i have to shut down and i am in desperate need of a solution!!
What can I do??!!
thanks in advance for you help!!!

If you use Kazaa,you might want to read these;

HERE

AND THIS

ALSO THIS

I also saw something on TechTV about Kazaa under the "Options" menu
that needs to be addressed, but I just can't find it on their site.

dw.exe is a component of the IE error reporting tool.See if these instructions apply to you to remove it.It is a Windows Update package, and I have chosen not to install it,so I can't check here.Thing is,it also doesn't show up on my "Available Updates" or my "Installed Updates" @ Microsoft.

Files Installed or Updated by Internet Explorer Error Reporting
The following files are installed when you install the Internet Explorer Error Reporting Tool (Iedw.exe):
Program Files\Internet Explorer\1033\Dwintl.dll, version 10.0.2118.2 (Internet Explorer 5) or version 10.0.2627.0 (Internet Explorer 6)

Program Files\Internet Explorer\Dw.exe, version 10.0.2118.2 (Internet Explorer 5) or Dw15.exe, version 10.0.2930.0 (Internet Explorer 6)

Program Files\Internet Explorer\Iexplore.exe, version 5.51.3020.2100 (Internet Explorer 5.x) or version 6.0.2600.0 (Internet Explorer 6)

The updated Iexplore.exe file adds exception handling and changes the version number for this file.

Let me know should you decide to uninstall it,or if it's even there.Kinda wondering myself.

I am having a similar problem and have no gameware installed. On start up, after icons appear, an error message appears:
DW This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. DW caused invalid page fault in module DW.exe@0187:0043122C I am wondering if the spam ads that pop up on my screen while logged onto the server is causing the problem. I guess I am not alone.

YOU DONT HAVE TO DELETE KAZAA FOR TERMINATION! DW.exe is only a 'add-on' with KaZaA and you need to SEARCH/FILE AND FOLDERS for Dw.exe and DELETE the DW program that comes up!

ALL SOLUTIONS WILL WORK AFTER RESTART!

I also have the same DW error and also have KaZaA. My error message comes up when my ISP sign on box comes up and I try and close the box and work offline. I would love to disable KaZaA in msconfig list but I did not download KaZaA as a start up program. Also, when I go to search files and folders and try and delete the 2- DW Files, it tells me that they are a program and warns to not delete. I just recently rebuilt Windows 98 SE on my PC and don't want to start causing problems that will cause me to yet rebuild once again. Is anyone sure that if I delete these files I will not have other problems in the future caused by me deleting them ? And that this in fact will resolve my problem ? Any & All help would by appreciated ! Thanks !
