Comment:
Ok this morning I recieved a dw error that said "DW has caused an error in the DW.exe" or something along those lines. I know it came with kazaa, but only until this morning has this error appeared. Now my connection to the internet has been lost also (im at school right now) but my other computer is working perfect with a router so its not my isp. Would the DW error cause my internet to stop working?

I would like to add to the post above that my isp is road runner, and I tried to restore my computer to an earlier date. After restoring my computer, during restart a nasty blue and red screen appears telling me my anti virus program has been disabeled. It only provides one option and that is to hit enter or ok. So the DW error still is present, but the pc health icon in the bottom right hand corner has been marked across with a circle and a line going through it.

It's called "Downloadware",and it's spyware/crap! Get/run Adaware 5.83 and Spybot Search & Destroy, both free, both should remove this pest. Then get rid of Kazaa, and get spyware-free Kazaa-Lite,if you must.Keep in mind, when you remove spyware components that are bundled woith other software, the removal of said componenets will likely cause the software not to work properly.
KAZAA

I had the same problem that you're having on my laptop at home. When you get the red screen saying Norton is not working properly don't worry. It just means your internet is not working. Do you know what type of router you have? Go into the router settings and make sure that it recognizes your ethernet cards adapter address. After that is set, you should be up and running.

WHAT???
First Downloadware is not spyware. It is a microsoft prgram that auto checks for windows updates on your PC. No I am not sayin it isnt junk because it is garbage. It may detect as spyware because it does call out to a web page to search for updates.
The red/blue screen for NAV not working dosent meen your internet isnt working, it does mean that Norton Antivirus is not working.
First check your PC for the good old Klez Virus. start ---> run ---> msconfig, Click on the startup tab, look for any thing that says Wink??.exe (the ?? can be any random letters). if its there go to symantec.com and download the removal tool for Klez, just follow the directions on thier web site for running the tool.
while your in the MSCONFIG. look for downloadware or any thing that has to do with DW.exe in the right side. Uncheck it and it will never bother you again till it is reinstalled from the windows update page.

John,I know where you came up with that, because way back when, upon my first looking into "dw.exe",that's what I thought/came up with...and it's possible you're correct. But,I suggest you do some more research on "dw.exe".Everytime I've seen someone come up with that problem here,it was not MS at fault.

Microsoft's dw.exe is an error reporting tool, not an auto update checker...
the "DW" part says that it's a DR.Watson derivative. From what I recall,it's installed with "Office",and since he said he knows he got it with KAZAA,that certainly raises a red flag to me.

This is from:
http://www.cexx.org/adware.htm
dw.exe, Movie Network.exe (Downloadware / Mediacharger / Movienetworks) - Displays lots of popup ads as you surf; Mediacharger may also function as a dialer for 1-900 #s for billing of adult movie downloads. Check for removal entries in Add/Remove Programs. Some removal instructions (may or may not work?) are here. I have had reports that the program will try to deter uninstallation by telling you that doing so will mess up your browser. It is, however, bluffing.
