windvd is the software that allows the dvd to be played. you must have it running. scart socket?? im not familiar with this. To watch dvd's thru my dvdrom i use a TV out connection from my graphics card. The TV out connection only allows you to view whats running on the PC whether its a DVD played with windvd or freecell on the desktop.

Gary, What graphics card (TV Out) are you using? TV Out should display whatever you see on your PC onto your TV. On my TV, I have to make sure that the "source" is set to the right mode. Some TV's have a Line 1 or Line 2 selection...maybe you have to make sure you select the right input with your remote control or thru your TV menu.
