Before buying the drive you should check the requirements for it. I seem to remember that most DVD burner drives require at least a 800mhz CPU or better. I can't be sure but I would check before buying as I was going the DVD route when my CD went out but changed my mind when I saw the requirements. I have a DVD recorder with a 80gb hard drive not with my PC but with my home theater equipment, so I decided against the PC one as I would need a new updated PC.

I just read the system requirements on 3 differant DVD burners and 2 of them had 800MHZ listed as the required speed of the processor, one had a minimun requirement of 400MHZ, recomended 800MHZ ! I myself have been considering installing a DVD burner on my P3 750MHZ ! It appears , I could probably install one ,however performance will most certainly be a concern ! Good Luck Nick
