I have a Mats---a (Panisonic) DVD-ROM that just stopped reading data or music(it's been working up til now). The drive recognizes that a disc was inserted but shows 0MB used, 648MB free for all CDs.It will recognize a bootable CD on reboot, which tells me that the problem is in Windows. Any ideas?

Have you tried Restore? I System Properties / Device Manager are there any problems? If you open up a DOS window, can you see what is on the CD (from c:\ prompt type cd D:\, then dir/p)

The drive shows correctly in Device Manager. No data shows in the DOS window (file not found) but the drive is recognized. If I leave a bootable CD- or any CD for that matter- and reboot, the contents will show up. Once I remove the CD, I'm back to the same problem.
