dvd-rom wont read cd-rw

My dvd-rom does not recognize nor read a cd-rw; however it does read a dvd and cdr. Any suggestions?
Not all brands are compatible with all DVD-roms. -R/+R disks are easier to read for many DVD players so that is why your player can handle the brand of cdr you use.
Try TDK, Memorex, Imatation, Sony, Fuji, Maxell or even some non-brand names until you hit one that is compatible with your DVD-rom.
