I have a Dell Dimension 8100, 256 RAM, 40 GHD, Soundblaster Live, Samsung DVD ROM SD 616, NEC 7800-A CD-RW/CD-R. I recently had to format my HD and re-install WinME. Everything seemed to work OK but now my DVD-ROM won't play music CDs. I get the blue screen with the following message: An exception OE has occurred from 0028:C1581378 in VXD CDVSD(01) + 0000268. This was called from the 0028:C182562C in VXD CDVSD(03) + 0000205C. Does anyone have any clues what might be wrong? Thanks

Hmmm, first things first, check to make sure that you have the little CD audio patch running from the back of your DVD rom to your soundblaster. The errors refer to a driver problem so you may want to check for a updated driver for your sound card. If your CD audio is automatically configured to play in Media Player, you may want to try setting the media player to use anolog instead of digital playback. I hope this is some kind of help.

My first thought would be to make sure you have the most up to date drivers for the DVD ROM.

Audio cable. From sound card to the dvd. The problem is the DELL machines have a 3 prong audio cable.Your dvd most likely doesn`t.It normally is 4 prong (or wires). You could always splice in th following manner. 4 prong 3prong red red wire black black black (dont use) white white white
