DVDROM drive help

My computer wont play dvd's anymore. It gives me an error everytime i try to play one and it shuts down the windows dvd player so i cant change the options if that is what it is. I tried everything from checking all the setting to reinstaling the whole drive. Nothing works could somebody tell me how to fix this please?
