Ok - found the DVD software on my original disc - ATI DVD player.
It won't work - it gives me error message saying could be memory, or the fact I don't have the hardware (I do - with latest drivers)System is K6-2 500Mhz
320 SDRAM
13Gb Hard Drive
32Meg Nvida Riva TNT2 Pro Graphics CardHave defragged with Nortons Speeddisk
Still no joy.I have read an article in a magazine talking about decoder hardware saying 600Mhz + is required to read a dvd - don't tell me I need yet another piece of kit for my computer.
This machine came with the DVDRom and only 8Mb onboard graphics and 64Mb SDRAM -I do not recall ever using the DVD player before - only ever had CD video until now. Are they trying to tell me it wasn't good enough before and isn't now.... Very Sad!What do you think???

There are two types of DVD player. Those that use software to create the video and those that use a decoder card. With the latter, you can run other programs in the background, like downloading a file from the web for example. With the former, the software uses up all the system resources and although it should play DVDs' without a problem, you can't do anything else at all with the machine. I've got an old Gateway2000 machine running on a PII 400Mhz / Windows 98 and it still works quite happily.
Here's a site that may provide you with the info you need to get going DVD info

No - it is a pain in the ****
