hey all. I have windoze ME and I am having issues with the dvd players (the one that came with it, Intervideo WinDVD, and the one that I installed that came with one of my DVDs, InterActual). I put in a DVD, and it plays fine, but after about 20 minutes it'll start to skip and semi freeze, and then it'll just freeze up. Sometimes it won't recognize the DVDs at all! Any advice? I love my DVDs and want to play them....

Problems ive had with dvd.. too many things running in the background or it needs to be cleaned.
I never let the spyware install itself from the dvd disk so i cant comment about it but winddvd runs fine for me. You should be careful about what you use to clean the dvd with. Some of the products available will damage the lense. Can of compressed air is what i use. Open the drawer and give it a few short shots and it usually fixes it up.

well some of the DVDs were new, so they haven't beeen cleaned with anything bad, and i always try to reduce stuff in the system tray when i play them... so that leads me to believe that those aren't the likely culprits. But thanks for the timely response! I really appreciate it.

I wasnt neccesarily speaking about the actual dvds. The dvd drives laser gets dusty and giving it a shot of air usually gets rid of the errors.

Office max, hardare stores. Places like this usually carry it. Its also good to give the fans inside the case and power supply a good dusting every once in a while. System off for this. I once broke a fan blade off when the case fan was spining.
