DVD Drive won't read anything

I used to have a dvd drive installed on my comp. I uninstalled it after my comp had messed up. I just re-installed the same drive on the same computer but it won't work. No matter what cd I put in it won't even show that one is in the drive. What can I do?

Aaron, may not help, can't hurt. Now and again Windows needs to 'clear it's head'. REBOOT and see if that helps (lets Windows detect hardware. Driver needed?). Ed in Texas.

hello is the dvd seen in device manager? any problems showing? try doing registry search for NOIDE delete any found.

Yeah. The device manager recognizes it. Everything seems cool, except for the fact that no matter what type of cd or dvd I put in it, my drive won't recognize it. I can double-click on the drive, but it tells me to insert a cd. Also, no NOIDE of any kind was found. Any suggestions?
