Im trying to Dual boot my windows, 98SE for all my sons games and WinME for my personal use without cluttering my desktop full of games and apps.

I have installed Windows 98SE, and then installed Windows ME, but when the computer start's it doesnt prompt me for Win98SE or WinME, it just runs straight thru to Windows 98SE.

I have used my WindowsME boot disk to access WinME on drive D:, then i get into windows folder and type "Win" and it says theres a problem with my registery and trys to fix it, and after it does it ask's me to restart and it just does it again. I have also tried to start me using Wininit.exe and neither get me into my windows.

When i use to install OS alot and was more familar with them i could figure this out, but after all these years i have lost my touch. My main computer in my house has Windows98SE, Windows2000Pro and WindowsXPPro installed all on 1 computer, but once again this was a couple years ago.

Im hoping someone to point me in the right direction to getting these windows to work, or maybe theres a partition manager i could use to choose what windows i want.

You need a boot manager if you want Win ME & 98 dual boot. Win XP has one built in. I used to have a free boot manager, if I find it, I will post back. In the mean time, try www.download.com for a free one.

DONT DOUBLE POST.

I had replied in the other thread in the win9x forum only to later realise that the thread is deleted. IF you do double post then only give the link to the original thread, not put the entire text again.

Its irritating to have a thread one's replied to be taken off only because the original poster did not follow basic forum rules.

Hi,
Please check if there is a Boot.ini file in the c drive by Start> Find.
If found, open it in Notepad and change the timeout seconds to greater than 0 .i.e 10 or 15.
Save and exit, restart computer
