Can someone please tell me what purpose the dssagent serves on a computer it comes up when I go online and I read that it has something to do with being a background broadcaster.I am runing winMe upgrade on win95, Thanks for any help.

Dssagent is one of the most heinous pieces of spyware I have ever personally come across. The reason I hold this little piece of software so dear to my heart is the way it was put on people's computers. When DSSAgent first came out it was installed with your child's Barbie software. Barbie? What the hell to the marketers of the world want to know about my child's browsing habits? Mattel then issued an appology some time later and put a DSSAgent removal tool on their web site. Then, they promptly sold the rights to the software to Borderbund... who just recently stopped using it due to consumer concerns. I still cannot believe these idiots want to know where my 4 year old goes on the net. It has been linked to PWSteal(a password stealer) and some other trojans. Either way... this is not a nice thing to have on your box.
