DSL quits working

We use Verizon DSL on our computer, and for some reason lately it just stops working. It's not a connection problem because Verizon is able to ping our computer, and also we have another computer networked and the internet works fine on it. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any kind of possible problems that would cause the internet to not work.

So are you networking your dsl with a router? Make sure you have it set up correctly. Or if not networked then maybe your just trying to sign on same dsl account which usually is not allowed at the same time.

If you're using a router with a DHCP server that assigns you IP dynamically this isn't all that uncommon for your connection to get dropped from time to time. About the only way to solve this is to shut off all power to the modem/router, wait ten seconds or so, then power it up again. I have this problem with cable using a router where the connection gets "lost" and even the print server won't work until I power cycle the thing. Fortunately this only happens to me about once or twice a week. But I see this problem a lot more with cable than DSL.

(It just happened as I was writing this post. I think it's a problem with dynamically assigned IPs using DHCP. This time I just unplugged the router and regained the connection that way.).

Well, the computers are networked using an ethernet hub. I've tried unplugging the DSL modem but that doesn't seem to work.
