Hello, I'm trying to use Primax Colorado USB 19200 Scanner, My OS Windows ME, I suspect I may need an updated driver, Not able to reach Primax site. Can you advise? Thank You

Sorry No Win ME version listed(dang)The 98 one may or may not work. The MS compatability site for ME products still dosent seem to work here so no help there im afraid(dang again). If it were me id load it from add new hardware(in safe mode couldnt hurt) as opposed to the printers and scanners area of the control panel. That seems to be most peoples best bet. Also make sure NO OTHER INSTANCE of it(the scanner) shows up ANYWHERE!!If it does remove it and the drivers first and then do a complete reinstall from scratch.

What is it that will happen differently by using the add/remove hardware wizard?
USD devices don't work in safe mode so what good is installing the software in safe mode?Switch back to Win98 or get a new scanner!

Using add hardware seems to correctly install some HP scanners that have issues, whereas the printers/scanners install method does not.As far as the safe mode things goes, this is done to insure that no "ghost" or dual devices are installed.A VERY common problem associated with USB devices and a widely accepted troubleshooting step.

I could not install three digital cameras and one scanner and one webcam to windows ME using "Scanners and Cameras" (maybe i was not patient enough)... the installation went fine when i was using "Add New Hardware"... i dont know the reason... i guess just one of the windows ME jokes...oooops...ment innovations... i am not soffisticated enough to know the reason why or what is the difference between them... also defunkt winmag had the same experience in longterm review of windowe ME....also often helps to do the indian rain dance while installing hardware with windows ME ;-)
Regards Miro
