driver for compaq 5184 video

Specs: Windows ME, AMD 450/188mg ram
I have not been able to find drivers for an old Compaq 5184 desktop. It has a fresh install of Win ME . The HP/Compaq site just takes me around in a circle, and does not contain any drivers .

Apparently that has the Sis 530 on-board video controller. Windows ME should have native/'in-the-box' support for that chipset and it should have been set up when you installed ME. If not you can trythe 98 SE drivers. They're on the compaq download page or you can go to the Sis site and download there. Start at:

http://www.sis.com/download/

Check and click the agreement. Then from the boxes choose 98 SE, IGP graphics drivers and Sis 530.

If you've installed a graphics card you're gonna need to open the case describe the card--model, chipset, etc.

Thanks-- I had not been able to figure out what SIS driver that was needed. I will try this one tomorrow. Thanks much--

You're welcome. Usually when the manufacturer doesn't have drivers it means the OS should already have them. Note that on the Sis site the 530 drivers show for 98 but not ME. Are you sure they're not setup already?
