I've been reading the posts on these boards for a number of days now, and I've been totally impressed by the information I've found. I've made Computing.Net a favorite haunt of mine on the Internet.
I have a little problem of my own, and I'm hoping someone will be able to help me out. I want to download full copies of Internet Explorer 5.01 SP2, Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2, and Internet Explorer 6.0--really, just so I can have full copies of each of them, and be able to pick and choose which one I want to use.
Thanks to people on here, I've figured out how to do the full copy thing. But what I don't know is how to download a version of IE that's older than the version I'm currently using. I'm working under Windows Me, which comes with IE 5.5, and I tried to obtain a copy of IE 5.01 SP2, but I was told it was older than my current version, so it stopped the download process. (Don't you love being told what you can and can't do, especially when you have other intentions?)
Anyway, is there a way that this can be done? Is it possible to download an older version of IE on a system using a newer one? I CAN install Windows 98 with its IE 4.0 and start downloading the updates one by one that way if need be...but I'd really rather not.
Thank you for your help!
Arthur

you wont be able to run these different browsers on the same machine at the same time as you could netscape and opera and ie. i assume its possible but would require great knowledge of software each of them try and overwrite the previous upon install. my suggestion if you just want full copies of them for backups is to search for old copies of aol software. each of these contain full copy of a different version of ie. though i doubt you will find 5.1sp2 uninstalling ie 5.5 from winme is not recommended. win me has 5.5 and 5.1sp2 isnt required.
