Hello,
I am trying to create a floppy disk from a .img file. When I try to use my Floppy Image program I get a black screen dos error. It says something like, your computer has been halted because dos has stopped
the use of long file names. Use the command LOCK /? to find more info. I used the command and it just told me that it means a drive is locked. I was able to place image files on my floppy disks about 2 months ago. I don't know what happened since then. Does anyone know how to fix this problem, or is there a website that has any info? Any help would be appreciated. I have Norton Anti-Virus and The Cleaner installed with all the recent updates, so I think my system is not infected with a virus.Thank you!

hello
there are a few viruses that screw with m.e,s floppy drives. try doing online scan at panda or housecall antivirus.
allso look in device manager and floppy any problems showing?

Thanks Wawadave,
I scanned my computer down with Panda online virus scan. It found 3 viruses that Norton Anti-Virus has not. I was infected with byte.verify and blackbox. It removed the viruses. When I try to make a floppy disk from a .img file I still recieve the following error. Windows has disabled direct disk access to protect long file names. I looked this error up and it only seem to effect WindowsNT and Windows 95. No mention about WindowsME.Could you give me any advice about this?
Thanks for your help!
