Copy the following files to the patch’s directory C:\windows\command.com, C:\windows\command\ebd\iosys.sy, and C:\windows\system\regenv32.exe. Choose the 3 files and right click and choose properties. Remove any file attributes, such as read only etc. Copy the system files back to their current location. Finally, you need to edit a few files in the root of drive C. In Edit, load config.sys and add the line DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\IFSHLP.SYS. In edit, load Autoexec.bat and add C:\WINDOWS\WIN.COM as the last line.

Go to windows explorer, left click once on C: in the left hand side and go to file (on the toolbar), new and choose folder, name your folder DOS Patch.
Now scroll down the left hand pane and left click once on the windows folder. In the right hand pane, locate the files C:\windows\command.com
C:\windows\command\ebd\iosys.sys C:\windows\system\regenv32.exe
Right click each of these files individually and choose copy, then scroll back up to your new DOS patch folder, right click the folder and select paste, until all 3 files are in this folder.
Once the files are in your new folder, right click each file and choose properties. When the file properties box comes up, at the bottom will be the file attributes, ie. hide, read only. Remove the ticks. Copy the files back to their original location.
Locate your config.sys file by left clicking once on the C: in the left hand pane and right clicking on the config.sys file in right hand pane. Choose open with and choose notepad. Your file will now open in Windows Notepad where you can edit it. In the top line type the following
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\IFSHLP.SYS
Now save and close the file.
Locate Autoexec.bat and open as above, and add C:\WINDOWS\WIN.COM as the last line. Save the file and close.

Hope this is easier to understand.
