Ok, I have come to the conclusion that there are no patches for Win Me and Microsoft does not intend to make any... I Installed this on low users...But, duh MS only regonizes this as a home based OS and DO they give a hoot about the home based people no..So I guess all the stupied people (myself included) who put Win Me on users in a company are screwed right..I just don't know if I can handle any more OE exception errors, .dll errors, lockups and to many other problems even the compatiablity with other products stink...

Ok, If you have a opinion please let me know...I really want to hear if anyone really likes Win me and why...Just for my own curosity....If you don't like it just let it all go...

I don't know about in business, but I have had ME at home here (and networked on my sons' PC in the next room) for many months and it has been absolutely fine. Much much better than Win98.
Sandy :)
PS I'm a great Norton fan too ! ! !
From what I can gather, people either love these two things, or hate them. I am in the first category.

Hi mmitchell:

I'm running a four computer network at my house, two with Me and two 98's. I run a small home based computer business. I have also set up Me for other small businesses with great success. At home, the Win98 desktop is least stable (my laptop is a bit better). If I'm going to get a blue screen, that's the one that will crash. My proxy has never crashed, it's been running 24/7 for about 6 months. I do a restart periodically to clean out the dust, and I'll shut it down during a t-storm. But otherwise I have had exceptional luck with Me. I haven't "tweaked" either Me machine either. Just did a clean install and away I went. My second Me computer is pretty good as well. Considering how much I "mess" with it, I'm surprised it doesn't crash all the time. I do get an isolated blue screen once in a while, but it hardly ever "locks."

I guess I keep getting the magic Me disks, the special ones that Bill Gates slips into the mix that run perfect.

Best of Luck to You!

This does encourage me a little bit..And I am glad to hear Susan and Time Rider that your systems run so perfectly..It seems as though you are in the lesser majority of believers of Win Me..I wish I had as much luck with this maybe it is just my users doing to much processing...Probably going to have to upgrade to Win 2000 ( seems like my only option)...

mmitchell, there are incompatibility of winodws ME with mainly older hardware (older means about two years or so)... also there is incompatibility with WDM modems....
the only big problems that i encountered with factory installed windows ME on a new computer was inability to connect and stay connected to internet and stalling and stuttering WMP7 and lack of DOS and need to tweek away the fat to make it run comparably to 98.
Stability is about the same or only marginally sligtly better than on my windows 98 computers
- bottom line... two thumbs down for ME
Regards Miro

Hi mmitchell:

Oh I don't know if Susan and I are a minority. OEM's have been installing me for some time now. Current users of 98 and 95 have upgraded, actually I have always held the belief that out of the untold number of copies of Me out there (I gotta believe it's in the millions and at the very least hundreds of thousands), I hear of very few problems in person, only what I see here mostly. I know at least 50 people running Me with no major issues, some with hardware older than three years.

It's like the wise man said that if you took an infinite number monkeys and a infinite number of typewriters, eventually they'd write all the great books. Well if you have enough different computers and enough different hardware with enough different software, there's gonna be problems!

I know Miro likes to talk about "tweaking away the fat." But when you do that, you have Windows 98 so it should run about the same. They are the same kernel.

I know that Miro likes his cars. So I say why on earth would I buy a Caddilac and then disconnect the power steering, power brakes, power windows, power door locks, electric seats, drain the freon ot of the air conditioning, disconnect the ride control and cover the leather seat covers with naugahide . . . simply because the battery is too small. Now I have a Chevy. I say get the bigger battery!

Best of Luck to You!

ME is not recommended for business use. Yes, we all know that it works for many but it is not recommended for businesses.

Well My opinion of ME is not so good right now. I just recently got a Compaq with ME installed on it and had only had it about 1 month will total kaos! Then suddenly one day it just crashed completely. Poor Thing!! So I dont it back in where I got it and told them about the problem. And asked if maybe it was something I had done? I am fairly familiar with computers and go through alot of programs and what not. Anyway they said they would ship it off and see what they could get down about it to check back in 3 days. So I did and they said no luck yet and they ALSO said that 10!!!! others came in the same day with the same problem and now its been 2 weeks and still no word. I have to check on it tomorrow so wish me luck...LOL.. So I am not sure about ME I am going to continue to give it a chance but I wouldnt suggest it to anyone If I were to suggest one it would definately be 2000.

what was the problem?... if the computer was less then a month old you should have returned it... ask for your money back.... there is nothing they could do with the computer that could last for two weeks.... it is all just stalling tactics... check your state lemon laws
