I had to reformat the C drive. When I reloaded AOL software from the CD, I could not get on-line (received a DNS error message). Internet Explorer also does not work. I tried the ping test and it failed to return on all four paths. I use a cable modem and the connection checs out (installed at laptop to the cat 5 wire and could get on-line). Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Did you install the drivers for the network card? I'd also recommend not installing any AOL crap.
