How do I replace a DLL file on WIN ME from the origial WIN ME CD Rom? I have a lot of DLL files causing errors here and there and I need to replace them to stop these errors.
Is there any way / program that can scan my system and auto replace damaged files?
Any advice with regards to errors with DLL files would be much appreciated.
Thanks,

Dynamic Link Libraries (DLL's) are usually found compressed on the WinME CDROM in the format FILENAME.DL_ and when extracted from the CAB files change to FILENAME.DLL
If you type MSCONFIG at the Start/Run command, you can use the "Extract" button to extract and decompress the chosen DLL file from the CAB (cabinet compressed archive file) on the CD ROM.
DLL's are usually unique in build number and version etc, so you might want to make sure that the DLL file is the correct one for the problem you have. Right clicking on a DLL file and having a look at it's properties gives this information.
I don't know if there is a specific program to scan for DLL's and locate damaged ones, but since DLL's depend on application files such as EXE files, you could try DLL ARCHIVE from
http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/system/dllarch.htmThis goes through your system and checks the DLL's you have actually are supposed to be there and which programs they relate to. It allows you to archive old DLL's that you no longer need, and if you find you do need them later, you can restore them from the archive.
Hope this helps,
Mark
