disappeared icons

Hello, i am very new to the computer world, but i have a question mab someone can answer. When i returned home from work tonight my husband said i have a problem, i have erased all the icons on our desktop. i sat down and cannot figure what the problem is, maby someone can help. remember i am very new at computers. thanks

Right click on desktop>active desktop>show icons.

Yep, listen to BudgieMan, he speaks the truth. More than likely, your husband accidentily right-clicked the desktop, went to "active desktop" and deselected the option "Show Desktop Icons". To fix it, just right click the background on your desktop, go to "Active Desktop", and click "Show Desktop Icons". All your icons should re-appear. Please post if they don't!
