Comment:

All of a sudden after having 2.5GB of memory left this morning, it now claims my hard drive is full.

Nothing new has been installed, and I downloaded nothing off the net that could of done this.

I can now not run many programs as I have no memory left, although I know I still do, its just disapeared.

Could someone please help a computer idiot out here.

As a FYI, RAM is referenced as memory but seldom disk.

Do you use Kazaa?

If so, check this link for a virus you may have.

Try running Scandisk first - I seen this occur on several PC's in the past (and assuming it just being misreported, Scandisk should fit it).

You may also want to clear your Temporary Internet files, and delete the content of your TEMP Directory as well.

So you ran the online virus check?

Do Find Files > C:\ > Date Tab > "During the previous 1 days"
When the list is presented, open the window maximized, click on the heading "Modified" to sort by Date.
Scroll through the list.
What folder are all the new files in? And what are they? EXE, etc?

One thing that i found with WinME was in the "_RESTORE" folder i had 2 files that were nearly 1.5Gb big.
You may need to have change your viewing settings to show hidden files and folders.
This may be where all your free space is being eaten up.
Since then, I've disabled the system restore function on my comp.

hope this helps.
